Imperial Treasure Dim Sum & Steamboat: Casual Fine Dining with a Modern Twist at Paradise City, Incheon
Opened in September 2022 on the first floor of Paradise City Plaza in Incheon, Imperial Treasure Dim Sum & Steamboat is the latest venture by Imperial Treasure, specializing in casual yet refined dim sum and steamboat dining. The menu features a creative reinterpretation of classic Cantonese dim sum alongside Singapore-style hot pot, delivering a unique fusion experience.
Imperial Treasure has earned a Michelin star for its authentic Cantonese cuisine and operates prestigious locations in Singapore, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong. In Korea, it brings its celebrated culinary expertise to the Incheon Paradise City Hotel, offering diners a taste of high-quality Cantonese flavors with a contemporary, approachable vibe.
At Imperial Treasure Dim Sum & Steamboat, you can fully customize your hot pot experience, from the broth base to each ingredient. We chose two broths: a nourishing chicken stock and a spicy Sichuan mala broth. For the hot pot ingredients, we ordered tender beef short ribs, a mixed vegetable platter, the signature Imperial meatball platter featuring four varieties, and udon noodles.
Since the restaurant does not provide dipping sauces for the hot pot by default, we opted to add their special house sauce, available for 4,500 KRW per person, which perfectly complements the flavors.
The flavor of the hot pot, simmered with fresh ingredients, was truly exceptional. The healthful chicken broth offered a light, clean taste—not too rich—while the Sichuan mala broth delivered a bold, complex flavor unlike any other I’ve experienced before. Although the ingredients for the steamboat come at a premium, their freshness was evident and elevated the overall taste.
Including both broth and ingredients, the meal cost around 160,000 KRW, but it was well worth it for the chance to savor such a distinctive and memorable steamboat experience.
Imperial Treasure Dim Sum & Steamboat aims for a casual dining experience, quite different from the fine dining atmosphere of Imperial Treasure Fine Chinese Cuisine located on the first floor of Paradise City Hotel. The difference is clear not only in the scale and design of the space but also in the number of staff and the overall service quality.
Because of this, a few inconveniences stood out during my visit. Arriving right at the Friday lunch opening time, I noticed a shortage of serving staff in the dining hall, which caused delays in responding to requests. Although two broths were ordered, only one ladle and one pair of scissors were provided, meaning I had to repeatedly ask for more. Additionally, the vegetables served in the steamboat were quite large and needed to be cut with scissors, but none were readily available at the table.
Although Imperial Treasure Dim Sum & Steamboat positions itself as a casual dining spot, the prices for dim sum are surprisingly close to those of fine dining. I ordered pork and shrimp shumai along with char siu pastry dim sum, and the prices hovered around 20,000 KRW—comparable to what I experienced at the fine dining Imperial Treasure restaurant.
The hot pot (steamboat) experience at Imperial Treasure Dim Sum & Steamboat, located on the first floor of Paradise City Plaza in Yeongjongdo, Incheon, leaves a memorable impression. While the premium pricing might feel steep, the flavors are distinctly elevated, offering a level of quality far beyond typical hot pot venues. That said, considering the cost, I find myself reminiscing about the time spent at the Imperial Treasure fine dining restaurant within Paradise City Hotel.
