A Sophisticated Blend of Italian Dishes and Korean Ingredients
Nestled on the 3rd floor of the LG Art Center Seoul, Romaok Magok is a casual Italian wine bistro where Italian cooking techniques meet the vibrant flavors of Korean ingredients. With a focus on creating balance between two culinary cultures, Romaok offers an approachable yet refined dining experience—ideal for pre-theater meals, romantic evenings, or leisurely lunches.
Designed by Tadao Ando, the LG Art Center opened its doors in October 2022, quickly becoming a cultural landmark in western Seoul. Just two months later, Romaok Magok joined this architectural marvel, opening on December 13, 2022, right next to the rooftop terrace exit—making it a hidden gem for both art lovers and food enthusiasts alike.
Building on the acclaim of its Dogok location, Romaok brings a fresh energy to Magok, with the same dedication to quality ingredients and thoughtful flavor pairings. Whether you're stopping by for a glass of wine and small plates, or indulging in a full-course dinner, Romaok Magok invites you to explore a culinary harmony that is uniquely Korean-Italian.

Romaok Magok: A Weekend Brunch Experience with Korean-Italian Flair
Casual elegance meets cultural fusion at LG Art Center Seoul
During its pre-opening phase, I had the pleasure of visiting Romaok Magok on a weekend afternoon. Tucked beside the rooftop entrance of the LG Art Center’s architectural gem, this modern bistro offered not only a satisfying meal but also an experience that artfully blends Korean ingredients with Italian finesse.
✦ The Meal Begins: Pine Nut Caprese Salad
The meal opened with a light yet flavorful pine nut Caprese salad, featuring fresh black tomatoes, jujube cherry tomatoes, and a creamy pine nut fromage blanc. The acidity of the tomatoes paired with the soft richness of the cheese delivered a refreshing start that showcased the quality and freshness of the ingredients.

✦ Comfort with Character: Truffle Paccheri Cream Pasta
Next came the truffle paccheri pasta, a standout dish where the wide, tube-shaped pasta held a velvety cream sauce infused with aromatic truffle. The sauce clung to every groove of the pasta, delivering rich, earthy flavors with every bite. The pasta itself was pleasantly chewy—simple yet decadent.

✦ A Korean Accent: Iberico Makjeok Grilled Pork
Romaok’s philosophy truly came to life with the Iberico Makjeok—a creative twist on a traditional royal Korean dish. Juicy Iberico pork was grilled and brushed with a savory fermented soybean paste (doenjang) glaze, reminiscent of flavors found in bossam, a beloved Korean pork dish. It was deeply satisfying and uniquely memorable.

✦ The Finale: Berry Nut Semifreddo
To end the meal, the berry nut semifreddo offered a perfect balance of cool and sweet. The frozen Italian-style dessert was layered with caramelized nuts, dried fruits, and a subtle tartness from berries—a refined, refreshing way to conclude the experience.
✦ Beyond the Plate: Art, Architecture, and Nature
Designed by the legendary Tadao Ando, LG Art Center Seoul is a masterpiece in itself—filled with natural light, minimalist geometry, and tranquil energy. A guided docent tour is available for those who wish to immerse themselves in the architectural story. And just outside the center, the Seoul Botanic Park awaits, making it the perfect destination for a post-meal stroll.
Romaok Magok doesn’t just serve food—it crafts moments where culture, cuisine, and design come together. Whether you’re visiting before a show or simply exploring Seoul’s west side, this bistro promises a dining experience that’s both thoughtful and distinctive.
