Since becoming part of Mayfield Hotel, Nakwon has continued to thrive and maintain its legacy.  What makes Nakwon at Mayfield Hotel so attractive is its tranquil atmosphere. Stepping through a small door into Nakwon, you’re greeted by a large tree and a traditional hanok with a spacious yard. Right next to it is Bongraehun, a Korean restaurant offering a set-course meal. The scenic beauty surrounding Nakwon and Bongraehun, along with the peaceful vibe of Bongraehun, makes it a popular venue for occasions like engagements and first birthday parties. The stunning landscapes, especially during spring and fall, add to its charm and popularity.

Signature Dish at Mayfield Nakwon: Hanwoo Marinated Ribs

 The Hanwoo marinated ribs at Mayfield Nakwon are truly delicious. The marinade is perfectly balanced, not too overpowering nor too mild, allowing the tender meat to shine. My first experience at Nakwon was during a family gathering at the end of the year, where we enjoyed Hanwoo rib-eye and marinated ribs in a private room, making for a memorable time.

Now, whenever I'm craving delicious Hanwoo ribs, I head to Mayfield Nakwon. During lunch, they offer a Hanwoo marinated rib set meal, which includes the marinated ribs, a savory pajeon (Korean pancake), and rice. While it isn’t the cheapest option, the quality and taste make it well worth the price.

The Hanwoo marinated ribs at Mayfield Nakwon are grilled to perfection, offering a tender texture that pairs wonderfully with the restaurant's special sauce, creating an irresistible flavor that keeps you coming back for more. There's also a unique ssamjang (dipping sauce) that stands out from the usual, enhancing the meat's taste and adding a delightful layer to each bite.

For the meal, you can choose between bibimbap, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), or Pyongyang-style cold noodles. I often go for the cold noodles, with their refreshing broth and subtle buckwheat aroma, making it a perfect complement to the rich flavors of the ribs.
