"A Rising Jambon-Beurre Destination in Seoul’s Magok District"

Salt House Deli is quickly emerging as one of Magok’s most talked-about culinary gems. Known for its elevated take on the classic French jambon-beurre, this deli blends rustic European flavors with Seoul’s modern sensibility. Tucked away on the ground floor of Ace Plaza, the space is minimal yet warm—designed for those who appreciate well-made sandwiches crafted with care and quality.

Discovering Salt House Deli: Magok’s Newest Culinary Hotspot

Salt House Deli, a beloved name that first gained popularity in Mangwon and later expanded to Anguk, has now opened its latest outpost in Magok—and it’s quickly becoming one of the neighborhood’s must-visit spots. Known for its handcrafted sandwiches filled with house-cured meats, this deli offers a casual yet refined take on classic European flavors.

Conveniently located on the first floor of Ace Tower, Salt House Deli sits between Magok and Balsan Stations on Seoul Subway Line 5, just a short walk from the LG Science Park. It’s right next to Geumgogi-jip, a local favorite known for its constant wait times during lunch hours.

At the Magok outpost of Salt House, the menu centers around their signature house-cured meats.
From thick-cut bacon and artisanal sausages to deli-style cold cuts, every ingredient is crafted in-house. Guests can enjoy a selection of sandwiches layered with these premium meats, as well as hearty soups and other thoughtfully prepared dishes that highlight the flavor and quality Salt House is known for.

While waiting for your order, you’ll find a beautifully designed leaflet about Salt House placed near the counter.
Unfolding and flipping through it reveals detailed information about the various cured meats they specialize in. It’s an engaging read, especially for those unfamiliar with the intricacies of artisanal charcuterie—offering a welcome distraction while your food is being prepared.

The interior of Salt House Deli is clean and inviting, with a dedicated counter area where their curated selection of cured meats is also available for purchase. Visiting just after the weekday lunch rush allowed for a leisurely experience, and I even noticed a few customers packing up artisan ham and baguettes to take home.

To start, I ordered the carrot soup. Warm and subtly tangy, it’s a perfect appetizer that awakens the palate. Surprisingly complex for a carrot soup, it offered a delightful range of flavors beyond what you'd expect.

For the main, I chose the Jambon Fromage sandwich—a standout among their handcrafted ham offerings. Nestled inside a fresh baguette, this sandwich features Jeju black pork ham, rich Isigny butter, nutty Emmental cheese, crunchy pickles, and a touch of mustard.

It’s impossible for a sandwich loaded with such quality ham not to be delicious. The baguette strikes a perfect balance—crispy enough without being tough—and the interplay of the ham’s savory depth with the creamy Emmental cheese creates a truly satisfying bite. Having just finished lunch, even a single slice was quite filling. Priced at 14,900 KRW, it may seem on the higher side, but considering the quality of ingredients and flavor, it’s an excellent value in today’s market.
